Founded in 1961, Hakata Ryotei Chikae (Fukuoka) has long been part of the Daimyo neighborhood’s dining story. Step inside and the first scene is unforgettable: a massive 12‑meter live-fish tank where more than 30 kinds of seafood from across Kyushu glide past, setting the mood before the first bite. The specialty is lively, seasonal kaiseki centered on fresh catch, served at just the right pace—staff quietly track your progress so each dish arrives at its best. It’s polished but welcoming, and easy to reach too: about five minutes on foot from Akasaka Station, or a short walk from Tenjin.
